THE
VEIL Traditionally,
brides have been thought to be particularly vulnerable to evil spirits and many
of the customs and traditions associated with weddings are to provide
protection. The veil was originally worn by Roman brides. It was thought that it
would disguise the bride and therefore outwit malevolent spirits. The veil became popular in Britain in the eighteen hundreds. In this country it is associated with modesty and
chastity. Our veils are from the very best of manufacturers in the U.K. and we are able to offer any combination of colour, size & design. The style & length of veil you choose depends on the style of your wedding dress & the look you wish to create. Lengths Standard lengths (from comb to hem - 2nd tier length) are: 45" - shoulder length 54" - waist length 72" - hip length 108" - floor length 126" - train 144" - cathedral but any size in between these can be catered for. The size includes the train (the longest part) & the 'blusher' (the shortest part sometimes worn over the face). Combing Variations Standard veils are two-tier but single tier & three tier
veils are also available. Our standard veils are 'half combed' - this means
there is a gather at the comb with a 'drop' on each side. We can also supply
veils 'full combed' which means there is maximum fullness at the comb with no
drop on each side or 'flat combed' where the veil has no gather and lays flat on
the head. Colours Veils are available in white, off white, ivory, pale gold, toffee, oyster, blush pink, pale blue, lilac, lavender, red, black, silver, gold & shocking pink!!!
